An investigation that began in May of 2018 regarding oil field thefts has ended with Felony Indictments and the arrest of one subject, Mike Allison.
A coordinated investigation was conducted by Freestone County Sheriff’s Office CID Investigators Sgt. Preston Cordova and Lt. Scott Shaw, Freestone County District Attorney’s Office, and XTO Energy employees.
Subject was identified by security cameras, placed by XTO Energy on well site locations. FCSO was able to recover approximately $4,000 of stolen property.
Allison was arrested on 8 counts of Tampering with Oil/Gas Rigs to Limit/Control Operations – Offense is listed under Texas Natural Resources Code 85.389, and is a 3rd Degree Felony.
According to County Sheriff Jeremy Shipley, oil Field thefts have been a continuous issue for about fifteen years for Freestone and the surrounding counties. “This is good work by our FCSO Investigators and good team work by all involved to bring eight of these cases to a close,” says Sheriff Shipley.
