An off-duty reserve officer of Groesbeck Police Department was involved in a shooting incident over the weekend.
On Sunday, July 21, 2019, at approximately 1:30 a.m., the Groesbeck Police Department was dispatched to the 500 block of Allison in Groesbeck, Texas in reference to a report of shots fired.
According to Groesbeck Police Chief Chris Henson, the initial investigation revealed a disturbance occurred between a small group of people.
During the course of that disturbance, shots were fired with one person struck.
According to an official press release issue by Chief Henson, that person was transported by ambulance and is believed to be in stable condition.
The press release goes on to say that officers also determined that one person involved in the disturbance was an off-duty reserve officer with the Groesbeck Police Department.
Consequently, Police Chief Henson contacted the Texas Rangers to request that they take over the investigation.
Texas Rangers responded to the scene and assumed command of the investigation.
“This is an ongoing investigation,” said Chief Henson, “and any inquiries should be directed to the Texas Rangers.”
