FHS 9th grader, James Sims (at top) was recognized for his achievement with the Royal Rangers Ministry during the December 15, 2022 School Board meeting for Fairfield ISD.
Also of note during the meeting, Sonya Gibson and Cindy Kirgan presented new CTE opportunities for FHS students including Health Science, Career Prep, and Dual Credit Cosmetology. The board could decide at our January meeting to add these courses for next year.
The consent agenda was approved.
Auditors with Patillo, Brown and Hill presented the 2021-2022 FISD financial audit. Thanks to Sharon Gibson and her team for their outstanding work in this area. The audit was approved.
A purchasing cooperative agreement for child nutrition was approved with Region 10.
The board approved an updated quote with Corsicana Welding for the TSTC welding shop.
District enrollment is at 1672.
Christmas break began Friday after lunch. Staff will return to work on January 3rd and students return on January 4th.
Kelly Walters was approved after closed session as the new FES principal. She will begin when classes resume following the holiday break.
