Fairfield Junior High will have a new face leading the way, as Daniel Johnson will be taking over the Vice Principal job with a #ChallengeAccepted attitude.

“In 2008 I was first introduced to the reputation of Fairfield and Fairfield ISD,” Johnson explains, “The reputation of being a great community and school has always been something that has stuck with me.”

He also points out how Fairfield is centrally located between family members and close to College Station.

Johnson moved to Fairfield with his wife, Tonya, a graduate of Texas A&M and a nurse. They also have four children who are grown.

While Johnson was born in New Jersey, he was seven when the transition to the Houston/Clear Lake area was made.

He started attending Stephen F. Austin in Nacogdoches, but transferred to East Texas Baptist University in Marshall where he received his BS Education in 1994.

Johnson returned to Stephen F. Austin for his Masters of Education in 2009.

He was working on his Doctorate of Education at Liberty University, but has taken a break during the transition period to focus on Fairfield Junior High.

Other colleges he has attended are Houston Baptist, University of Houston, San Jacinto Junior College, and Texas A&M: College Station.

Johnson started working in the education field at the age of nineteen working as a bus driver, and now has campus administration experience from Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade at school districts of various sizes.

His educational experience ranges from Business, Physical Education, Science, Social Studies, and Technology.

Part of his career lead him to being a campus leader through a crisis when he helped the transition of 250 evacuees from New Orleans to the Nacogdoches High School.

He was a campus Assistant Principal when Hurricane Harvey shut down school for three weeks, along with working as an Assistant Principal during the COVID-19 crisis.

“At this time I am still learning about the campus and district,” Johnson states when asked about plans, “I am currently meeting with each of the campus staff members and will soon be working on connection with the parents and students.”

Johnson is very aware of the struggles the Covid 19-20 school year has brought, and he knows that Education will be different, but better.

“The Covid 19-20 school year is one that has shocked the society, we can accept the challenge and come out of this crisis stronger.”

Johnson is keeping individuals and families in mind to be sure that they are physically and emotionally doing okay.

He further stresses that he encourages families to set parameters around how much time they spend in the digital world, and replace that by spending time together, playing games, cooking together and living life.

#ChallengeAccepted is Johnson’s hashtag for the attitude he wants to bring to Fairfield Junior High.
He is a cancer survivor and a Christian who is, “called to love and serve others regardless of their beliefs,” he states.

Camping, yard work, board games and cooking are things he enjoys doing during his free time.
Johnson is, “looking forward to being a part of the Fairfield community and Fairfield Junior High Family. #ChallengeAccepted
