The first of October ushered in a new era of Fairfield Fire Rescue. The members of the Fairfield Fire Department have elected a full slate of officers.
Chandler Baggerly is entering into his second year as Chief, Baggerly is an Engineer for BNSF.
Laney Newman, a sound engineer, was elected as the Assistant Chief entering into a 2-year term on October first.
Colin Blair stepped into the role of Captain after serving the department as a lieutenant, Blair is a Still Mill Worker for Nucor Steel.
To fill the vacancy, Rob Ransom was elected as a lieutenant, Ransom is a Fitness Specialist and owns Insanity Fitness XP in Fairfield, TX.
Avery Altman, a career firefighter, has been serving the department as a lieutenant for the past two years.
Rich Schaufert, an Investment Manager, has served as Secretary for 8 years.
Joe McCalman, began his term as the Safety Officer on the first, McCalman is a driver and runs the pumps for fires, being a retiree, he has accepted the responsibility and holds the record for most calls responded to each year.
Andrew Weitner, the pastor of New Life Church, has served the department as Chaplain for the past two years.
A full line up of officers leads a growing number of firefighters that have a powerful commitment to serving Fairfield with excellence.

A concentrated effort to establish a healthy qualified team to serve the people of Fairfield, TX has become a singular goal.
“We are trying to lay the groundwork for the future with potentially building a new fire station and new training facility, for not only the citizens of Fairfield but all of Freestone County,” said Chief Chandler Baggerly.
2020 also brought the development of the Fairfield Fire Auxiliary, a team of volunteers that have taken on the responsibility to serve those serving.
Equipped with an auxiliary trailer, the team mobilizes to provide hydration, food, and shelter to the firefighters on the scene depending on the need and length of the call.

You may also want to help financially, you can purchase raffle tickets for the golf ball drop held on October 31st at Tri-County Golf Club. A ticket cost $5 for 1 golf ball or $20 for 5. Every golf ball you purchase will be numbered and dropped from the ladder of Quint 81, 1st, 2nd, 3rd and Last position from the hole will win money.
The Fire Department will have a Fish Fry fundraiser on November 13, 2020. The cost per plate will be $10, drive-through will be available from 11 am until sold out.
