Fires continue to be a problem in the Freestone County area.


Friday, December 20th 2019, a brush fire blazed across eight acres during the day. Teague VFD were assisted by Mexia FD, Fairfield VFD and Dew VFD to fight the large grass fire.


Tuesday, December 24th 2019, Teague VFD responded to a structure fire. Responding for mutual aid were Teague EMS, Fairfield FD, Dew FD, Wortham FD, Teague PD and Freestone County Sheriff’s Office.


The single-story structure was fully involved in the fire when the time the firefighters arrived on scene.


The fire departments used over 30,000 gallons of water fighting this fire, and the fire took approximately three and a half hours to extinguish.
