As always these days, lots of new things are happening at the Fairfield Library. The book sale on September 7th was a great success. Several buyers were very generous with their donations and can be assured that the library will use the money wisely. The Library is also pleased to have a special donation of $250 from the Citizens State Bank in Buffalo during the sale. The $250 check is for the purchase of a very nice Book Cart the staff will be using on a daily basis.
Next week, September 17 through 21, 2018, is U.S. Constitution Week and the Jonathan Hardin Chapter of the DAR (Daughters of the Revolution) has provided a display in the foyer of the library that includes a copy of the complete Constitution for all the read. Also provided is information about the writers of our Constitution and the Proclamation signed by Freestone County Judge Linda Grant about the celebration of our Constitution. Everyone is invited to stop by during the week and check it out. Our Constitution has been the model for others in the world, but is the longest lasting. It is the foundation of our freedoms here in the United States and many have lived and died to protect it.
Fairfield Library is happy to be partnering with “The Bridge” After School Program for grades K-8. They will host the group every Wednesday beginning on September 19 from 3:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. Sponsored by Fairfield No 1 Church of God in Christ, the program will offer homework help, tutoring with a focus on reading and math skills, one-on-one training and more. Initial registration for the program was on Saturday, September 15th at the church, but students may be registered at the library on Wednesdays during program hours. This is a free program for the community. For additional information please contact church at 903 724-0958 or see their website at davidalgood.wixsite.com/thebridge.
Also beginning in September are the fall student tours for Fairfield ISD Elementary and Intermediate School students. Pre-K students will kick off the tours with a special Story Time at the Library in September. Faith Academy is also utilizing the library during the school year.
