At least one incumbent was ousted during Saturday’s City and School Elections.
Keith Daniels won a place on Fairfield City Council, beating his closest opponent, Place 3 incumbent, Davie Steward, by 11 votes.
Incumbents Landis Bayless and Kenneth Hughes retained their seats.
Bayless received 56% of the vote, securing Place 4 with 24 votes.
Kenneth Hughes kept Place #5 with just 6 votes.
Official canvassing of the votes is set for the Tuesday, May 9, 2017 during a regular session of Fairfield City Council. New council members are expected to be officially sworn in during this meeting.
In the Teague Council election, incumbent Marilyn Michaud (Place 3) garnered 62% of the vote to retain her seat. Fellow incumbents, Ron Rasbeary (Place 2) and Chris Nickleberry (Place 4), were unopposed.
The official canvassing of the Teague Council Election will be conducted on Monday, May 15, 2017.
Russell Black swept into Place 6 on Wortham ISD Board of Trustees with 98 votes to opponent mike Gargis’ 9 votes.
Incumbents Michael Dunn (Place 5) and Jeff Jones (Place 7) were unopposed.
