Dr. Mickie Jackson was named Fairfield’s new Assistant Superintendent following a closed executive session of FISD Board of Trustees during the Monday, July 11, 2022 meeting.
Also approved was security upgrades by Knight Security at the cost of $1,270,783.
Also approved was the addition of the following language to EHAA (LOCAL) regarding sex education:
“The Board has determined that the only human sexuality instruction permitted to be taught in the District will be that instruction included in the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) standards as determined by the State Board of Education. Instruction on this topic other than that authorized by the TEKS is prohibited. No curriculum materials or lessons regarding this topic shall be used except for those expressly approved by the Board.”

Student and Employee handbooks were discussed for the 2022-2023 school year, and the Student Code of Conduct was approved. These will all be available on the school’s website at https://www.fairfieldisd.net and through Classlink.
Also approved was the District Improvement Plan and the Campus Improvement Plans for the 2022-2023 school year.
Repairs to the roof at FHS were approved. This was part of the bond package. The repairs costs were $171,518.
Services provided to the district through ESC 12 were approved. The cost of the ESC 12 contract was $92,698.
Property and casualty insurance policy through TASB was approved. Our premium for the 2022-2023 school year is $189,786.
Trustees present for the meeting were Kevin Benedict, Kirby Flandry, John Fryer, O.B. Utley, and Kim Whitaker. Penny Meredith and Michael Wren were absent.
