A shooting occurred on State Highway 179 just east of Teague, Texas on Saturday, April 18, 2020, according to a release from the Freestone County Sheriff’s Office.
The release explains that a report was received that a bullet had entered a residence through the living room window and impacted the wall less than ten inches above a person’s head.
Freestone County Sheriff’s Office Deputies: Sergeant Martin, along with Deputies Powell, Leatherman, Fleming, Reserve Deputy Fogle responded, as well as Teague Police Department Officer Condren.
The officer’s immediately began a search in the direction from which the bullet came.
Sergeant Martin located two men who were allegedly doing target practice less than a half a mile from the residence on CR 650.
The two men were arrested for Deadly Conduct when the investigation was concluded.
The Freestone County Sheriff’s Office reminds everyone that, while we are rural, and love our freedom and guns, we must remember that we are responsible for were the projectile goes once it leaves the firearm.
“This could have been much worse and an unfortunate loss of life,” said Freestone County Sheriff Jeremy Shipley.
