The National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) Chapter 1191 held its monthly meeting at the Grand Ennis Buffet in Ennis on Tues., 10 Dec 2019. The guest speaker was Paul Lewis with Compassion Corsicana who discussed the program which assists low income residents in Navarro and part of Ellis counties. The organization works with the Navarro County Food Pantry to provide food assistance. He discussed the contributions from grocery stores and individuals in helping to meet community nutritional needs. Contributions were made by those attending and are welcome and needed by others wishing to assist.
Also visiting and speaking to the group was Larry Bowlin, NARFE Cong. Dist 6 Legislative Liaison who spoke on NARFE legislative advocacy on behalf of active and retired federal workers.
Additionally, NARFE Northeast Area District Representative for Dist 3, Dewey LaRochelle and wife Ingrid, from Richardson, were attending to install Chapter 1191 officers for calendar year 2020. The elected officers installed were James Whitfield, Sec.; Ed White, Treas.; James Patak, 2nd VP; Steve Armstrong, 1st VP; and Rex Carey, Pres.
NARFE Chap. 1191 covers Ellis, Navarro and adjacent parts of the surrounding counties. Membership in NARFE is open to all active and retired federal employees and their spouses, former federal employees, and former spouses who are entitled to a federal survivor annuity.
