Nancy Sue Amburn Wise, resident of Windemere Assisted Living in Palestine, TX and former resident of Butler, TX passed away peacefully at the age of 89 on Thursday August 3, 2023, with her daughter Roxanne and son-in-law D.J. by her side.
Nancy was preceded in death by her husband of almost 70 years, Julian Russell Wise Sr., her parents and 3 siblings, and her son Leland Stewart Wise.
She is survived by her children, Debra Wise Matthews and husband Kelly Jack Matthews, Julia Roxanne Davis and husband D.J. Davis, Julian Russell Wise, Jr. and wife Geraldine (Binky) Wise, and Stephen Patrick Anthony Wise and wife Stephanie Wise. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Nancy was born on May 30, 1934, in Hillsboro, TX. She spent many of her early summers in Hillsboro with her grandparents, but spent most of her life in Dallas, TX raised by her single mother, Audrey Mae Carrell Neaves, with her 3 siblings.
She attended North Dallas High School where she met her high-school sweetheart, Julian Wise. They married in 1950 and spent 70 wonderful years together.
Nancy was a devout Catholic. She loved the arts, flower gardens, social events and was an avid Texas Rangers and Kansas City Chiefs fan.
Later in life she had a career that she loved with the postal service and successfully ran her own construction business.
Above all, she loved her family with her whole heart. She was the matriarch of her large family, and she taught us to cherish one another.
She adored hosting her large family with creativity and fun and left us with a lifetime of good memories and family traditions that will be continued.
She will be buried next to her husband at Mayes Cemetery in Butler, TX. with a private graveside service on Monday, August 7th at 10:00 am, officiated by Fr. Jonathon Frels. A memorial Mass will be scheduled at a later date.
