A vector management workshop for city and municipal personnel will be from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 7 at the R.B. Hubbard Center, 304 E. Ferguson St. in Tyler.

There is no charge to register, and lunch is provided.

The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service workshop is designed to train city and municipal personnel who are in the mosquito abatement field or are working on setting up a mosquito control program. The program will educate personnel on mosquito identification, biology, ecology, control tactics, trap use, surveillance, virus testing, Zika and mosquito control.

Speakers and topics include:

– Dr. Sonja Swiger, AgriLife Extension entomologist, Stephenville – Mosquito Identification and Biology.

– Suzanne Transier, Texas Department of Agriculture inspector, Lindale – Laws and Regulations Updates.

– Dr. Chris Menges, Texas Department of State Health Services veterinarian, Tyler — Mosquito-Borne Diseases.

– Erfan Vafaie, AgriLife Extension entomologist, Overton – Integrated Mosquito Management.

– Swiger – Mosquito Surveillance.
