The 2023 Big T Memorial Cook-Off is this weekend, September 29th & 30th. Event includes a “Touch A Truck” event for the kids, Disc Golf Tournament for all ages, as well as a 42 Tournament for domino lovers, Kids Cookoff, Cornhole Tournament, vendors and live music.
The event will be held at the W.L. Moody Reunion Grounds in Fairfield, Texas.

The annual Big T Memorial Cook-Off is a State Championship Lonestar Barbeque Society-sanctioned event which include a $10,000 payout.
Main categories include Chicken, Spareribs and Brisket. Jackpot categories are Beans, Cook’s Choice, Salsa and Dessert.
Entry fee for Main Categories is $200 per team. Jackpot Categories are $25 each.
Move-In starts at 12:00 noon on Thursday, September 28th. RV hookups available but limited, so register early to reserve your spot.
Cook team registration is from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, September 29th. Cook’s meeting is at 6:00 p.m.
This event is a Great Time for a Great Cause.
Golden Circle Special Needs Association, along with Big T’s Buddies Autism Support Network, donated $30,000 this past year to area schools and various special needs programs for the past several years. Thanks to the generosity of our cook teams and sponsors, these much-needed funds have been used for life skills classes and for furthering the mission of special needs camps in our local 5-county area.

42 Tournament
Teams or Singles are welcome to enter the 42 Tournament on Friday, September 29th at the Green Barn (Civic Center).
Cost is $20 per person, $40 per team. Anyone is welcome.
Registration begins at 5:15 p.m. with Tournament play beginning at 6:30 p.m. following a reading of the rules.
Bracket will be determined by the number of teams registered by 6:30 p.m.
Prize for First Place is cash money and a commemorative set of dominoes.

Cornhole Tournament
Golden Circle Special Needs Association presents the Big T Memorial Cornhole Tournament on Saturday, September 30th.
Cost is $20 per person, Switch, no partner needed with a 50/50 payout.
Registration opens 3:00 p.m., pre-registration is preferred on Scoreholio app.
Bags fly at 4:00 p.m. All skill levels welcome.
Disc Golf Tournament
Disc golfers are invited to join the Big T Memorial Disc Golf Tournament on Saturday, September 30th.
Skins will include 3 combined divisions.
Juniors begin at 8:00 a.m.; Beginners and Intermediate players start at 10:00 a.m.; and Advanced / Open will start at 12:00 p.m.
Each combined division will compete through a minimum of 18 holes.
The player with the most skins at the end of the round wins 1 of 3 combined divisional trophies, and the first-place prize money.
If there is a tie at the end of 18 holes, sudden death playoff determines standings.

Touch-A-Truck Event
Touch-A-Truck is an event where kids of all ages can see, hear, smell, and touch a variety of cool trucks and other vehicles.
Event will be held at the fairgrounds from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 30th.
Cost is $5 per person (or $20 per family) to explore a fire truck, ambulance, police car, bulldozer, track hoe, tractor, dump truck, and much more!
Music will be provided by DJ Ren.
Businesses or individuals can bring their big / cool / strange trucks and let kids get a close-up experience with vehicles that would usually be off-limits.

Kid’s Cook-Off Challenge
Have a kiddo who loves to cook? Sign up for the Kids Cook-Off Challenge held Saturday, September 30th.
Any kid between the ages of 8 and 17 years will be eligible to compete. Junior Division is 8-12 years, Senior Division is 13-17 years.
Cost is $25 per entry.
All contestants will be provided with meat, 14” charcoal portable grills, and charcoal for the contest. Please register by Monday, September 25th to be guaranteed a grill and meat.
Check-in and set up beginning at 3:00 p.m. Cooking starts at 4:00 p.m., and food must be ready by 5:00 p.m.
Event will be located under the two covered pavilions to the East side of the Civic Center (Green Barn)/

Barbeque
Jackpot entries will be turned in for judging beginning on Friday, September 29th with Salsa at 7:30 p.m. and Dessert at 8:30 p.m.
Beans will be turned in on Saturday, September 30th at 11:00 a.m., and Cook’s Choice at 12:00 p.m.
Cook-Off main category entries will be turned in for judging on Saturday, September 30th beginning with Chicken at 1:00 p.m., Pork Spare Ribs at 2:30 p.m., and Brisket at 4:00 p.m.
Judges are needed! Sign up to be a judge for the State Championship Cookoff.
BBQ Fundraiser Sale will be served from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (or sold out). Plate sale starts at 5:00 p.m. followed by announcement of Winners and Awards at 6:00 p.m.
Live Music follow awards around 7:00 p.m.
