A local celebrity, Monica Aldama, will be joining the Dancing With the Stars for their 29th season starting Monday, September 14, 2020.
Aldama, Head Cheerleading Coach at Navarro College, is well known for the Netflix documentary “Cheer”.
Joining Aldama on the show will be fourteen other names, some big and others even bigger:

–Kaitlyn Bristowe, “The Bachelor” (Season 19), “The Bachelorette” (Season 11).
–Jeannie Mai, “Holey Moley” sideline correspondent; host of daytime talk show “The Real”
–Anne Heche, actress
–Nelly, rapper
–AJ McLean, Backstreet Boys
–Charles Oakley, former NBA star
–Johnny Weir, Olympic figure skater
–Vernon Davis, former NFL star
–Justina Machado, “One Day at a Time”
–Chrishell Stause, “Selling Sunset”
–Jesse Metcalfe, “Desperate Housewives”
–Skai Jackson, Disney Channel’s “Jessie”
–Nev Schulman, “Catfish: The TV Show”
The long running show is adding a new star in the form of a host this year, the one and only Tyra Banks.
The official and professional dancers are: Brandon Armstrong, Alan Bersten, Sharna Burgess, Cheryl Burke, Val Chmerkovskiy, Sasha Farber, Jenna Johnson, Daniella Karagach, Keo Motsepe, Petra Murgatroyd, Pasha Pashkov, Gleb Savchenko, Emma Slater and Britt Stewart.
For those who do not know, the show picks celebrities and pairs them with a professional dancer. Each season showcases new celebrities.
Each week a new and unique dance is done, normally in a different style, and the dancers with the lowest combined judges and audience votes, are removed until the winners are left at the finale.
