Michael Eugene Orand, 57, of Palatka passed away Friday September 3, 2021 at Putnam Community Medical Center following a brief illness.
Born in Fairfield, Texas, he lived in Palatka for 7 years after moving from Jacksonville. Michael originated the concept of 1st Coast Recycling, Inc. in 2006 with the idea of serving the community and as a way to create jobs for Putnam County. He was currently serving as Vice President of the company. Anyone who knew Michael would say that he left a mark on their life.
He was an avid hunter, and was a member of several hunting clubs, including Putnam County Hunting Club, White Hill Hunting Club, and Shadowlawn South Hunting Club in Clay County where he served as a board member. Michael loved helping others and was a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Billye K. Orand.
His is survived by his wife of 28 years, Dawn Orand of Palatka, a son J.T. Orand of Haughton, LA, a daughter Miranda Orand of Nashville, TN, his father, James Orand of Bardin, a cousin, Stephen Grounds and his wife Jayme and an aunt, Joan Grounds.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Rodeheaver Boys Ranch, 380 Boys Ranch Road, Palatka, FL 32177.
