The Angelic Hosts came for Mattie Lee Heggins on December 31, 2016 in the Providence Health Center, Waco, among loving family and devoted friends.
Viewing was held Friday, January 6, 2017 with the family present.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 7, 2017 at the Jewett Civic Center.
Interment is in the Heggins Chapel Cemetery in Jewett
Mattie Heggins was born to Dave Heggins and Velma Thomas Heggins in Teague, Texas.
She grew up in Teague and graduated with the Teague High School Class of 1978.
Mattie and Michael Lloyd were married on May 24, 1982 in Pittsburg, TX.
She received a Bachelor Of Science Degree in Medical Technology from East Texas State University and a Master Of Arts Degree in Fine Arts from The University Of Texas, Tyler in 1996. She received her Teacher Certification in 1995.
Mattie was a celebrated artist; and some of her paintings and drawings are registered in The Library of Congress.
She was inducted into the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority at East Texas State University.
Her career led her to work as an AMT with the Presbyterian Hospital, Greenville, TX and the Henderson Memorial Hospital, Henderson, TX. Her last employment was in the area of Home Healthcare.
Mattie was preceded in death by her father; son Brandon Jamal Lloyd; and brothers Neal Heggins and David Heggins.
She is survived by: Her husband Michael Lloyd, Texarkana, TX; Children: Michael Aaron Lloyd and Melody Patrice Lloyd, both of Plano, TX; Her mother: Velma Heggins, Teague, TX; Brothers: Percy Heggins, Marquez, TX; Curtis Heggins and wife, Martha, Tyler, TX; George Heggins, Marquez, TX; and Will Heggins, Teague, TX; Sisters: Inez Clark, Tyler, TX; Zeala Wilson and husband, Johnny, Dallas, TX; 4 grandchildren; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
