A social media post by the Freestone County Sheriff’s Office explains that there are issues with the COVID-19 database.
“Unfortunately, there are recoveries that are not showing, there are active cases that have never made it on the list, and some of the active cases that just made it or haven’t made it yet are already recovered,” the post states.
This became even more important this week, as Governor Greg Abbott recently made masks mandatory for counties with over 20 active cases .
Always remember that the numbers are what were reported from the state, and there are many factors included in counting numbers.
Probable cases, no test confirmation but all signs exhibited, are also counted together with the positive test.
The following are the counts for positive test received in regards to COVID-19 testing in the five-county region.
As a note, the Texas Department of State Health Services COVID-19 dashboard is considered to be, “provisional and subject to change.”
Always follow the numbers officials report.
