The program will feature masterpieces performed by two outstanding Piatigorsky Foundation artists: Linda Rosenthal, violin and Maxim Pakhomov, piano

For over 29 years, The Piatigorsky Foundation’s commitment to artistic excellence and public outreach has fascinated many avid concert goers as well as curious first-timers. It is this combination of complimentary access, flamboyant performances, and human warmth that makes Piatigorsky Foundation concerts so appealing to diverse audiences. During its last visit, The Foundation presented a tour of 8 concerts in East Texas reaching over 640 people in Houston, Trinity, Crockett and Malakoff. Likewise, this year The Piatigorsky Foundation aims to reach hundreds of people across the East Texas region to increase awareness and appreciation of classical music in communities throughout the state.

Violinist LINDA ROSENTHAL has performed throughout North America, Europe and Asia in recitals, as soloist with orchestras and as a chamber musician. Based in Juneau, Alaska, Rosenthal has performed and taught in virtually every corner of the State, from logging camps in the Panhandle to tiny villages above the Arctic Circle. She also tours extensively throughout the U.S. In 1995, commissioned by the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., Rosenthal created and premiered Strings & Stories, a 2-person show for young audiences that she and L.A. actor Bill Blush continue to perform annually for thousands of children across the country. Rosenthal is Founder and Artistic Director of the Lake Placid Chamber Music Seminar and Founder and Artistic Director Emeritus of the Juneau Jazz & Classics Music Festival. She has recorded 5 solo CDs and commissioned and premiered more than a dozen works. Rosenthal plays on a violin made in 1772 by J.B. Guadagnini.

Pianist MAXIM PAKHOMOV has toured England, Scotland, Austria and Estonia in both solo and chamber music performances. He is a founding member of The Bronx Chamber Players and is principal pianist of the Bronx Opera Company. His solo performances include piano concertos by Tchaikovsky, Saint-Saens, Brahms, Beethoven, Rachmaninoff and Grieg with the Orchestra of the Bronx, the Orchestra of The Barge Music Festival, and the Staten Island Philharmonic. Mr. Pakhomov is a graduate of The Moscow Conservatory.

About The Piatigorsky Foundation: Evan Drachman established The Piatigorsky Foundation in 1990 in honor of his grandfather Gregor Piatigorsky. Piatigorsky deeply believed in the healing and inspiration power of classical music. He once said, “Music makes life better. Music is a necessity. It is rich. It is imaginative. It is magnificent. And it is for everyone.” The Piatigorsky Foundation is committed to carrying on Piatigorsky’s mission by evoking cultural curiosity through educational and accessible live performances.
