The Teague Lions have not been home all season and their first chance to play under the local lights was the district opener against an old foe.

The West Trojans invaded Lion Stadium and handed the Lions a 42-26 defeat in the District 9-3A D I opener.  It evens the season record at 2-2.

Teague had several big plays called back on penalties and those plays could have kept them in the game but the offense stalled and West kept the pressure on Teague.

The Lions got on the board first near the end of the first quarter.  Quarterback Zach Satterwhite tossed a touchdown pass to Daveon Dixon from six yards away and the point after put the Lions ahead 7-0.

West used their defense to match the Teague score.  Satterwhite dropped back to pass and he was intercepted by Romeo Hernandez near midfield.  Hernandez returned it 45 yards for the tying touchdown at the beginning of the second quarter and the game evened at 7-7.

The next possession for the Trojans produced more points and put West ahead going into the half.  Paeton McFarlin scored on a one-yard run with 4:51 remaining in the first half and West took a 14-7 lead.

Teague did get the touchdown back with 1:37 remaining.  Satterwhite called his own number for the seven-yard touchdown to tie the score at 14-14.  West went on a drive before the half but the Teague defense held them out of the end zone to hold the score even.

From the start of the third quarter on through the rest of the night, it was all West.  McFarlin scored on the first possession of the second half on a 24-yard run to take a 21-14 lead.  Midway through the quarter, Trojan quarterback Nathan Gerik hit Preston Johnson for the eight-yard scoring strike and the lead grew to 28-14.

Teague posted a score with 3:42 remaining in the third quarter on a highlight reel punt return by Tyrese Heard.  His 81-yard return cut the lead to 28-20.

The next two scores were put on the board on touchdown runs by Jacob Bates.  He had two short runs from four and three yards to blow the game open.

Satterwhite would add a second touchdown pass to Dixon to set the final score.

Teague will take to the road for the next district game in Eustace.  The Bulldogs built a 19-0 lead in Groesbeck Friday night and gave up 20 straight to fall 20-19 to the Goats.
