The Teague Lions built a 28-7 at the half and played through sloppy conditions in the second half and defeated the McGregor Bulldogs 34-7 for homecoming at Lion Field Friday night.

The Lions scored early with a Zack Satterwhite one yard run with 8:51 remaining in the first quarter.  Roberto Escobedo added the extra point and the night would belong to the Teague Lions.

Teague has been adding Azaya Patrick to the offensive sets in the last few weeks and it has paid dividends.  He broke away on a seven yard run in the last two minutes of the first quarter and extended the lead to 14-0.

McGregor had trouble getting the offense going and were forced to punt and the Lions hit the big play to bust the game open.  Gelico Green took the handoff and rumbled 46 yards for the 21-0 lead.

The Bulldogs connected on a 32 yard pass play to cut the lead to 21-7 but the Lions added that touchdown back to the lead on a Green three yard run with seven minutes to go in the first half for the 28-7 lead.

The second half was a bit sloppy with poor conditions and penalties.  McGregor advanced deep in Teague territory but fumbled near the end zone.  Green recovered the fumble and set up the Satterwhite one yard plunge for the final score of the game in the last minute of the third quarter.

Teague is in the middle of the playoff hunt even though they trail the Whitney Wildcats, West Trojans and Grandview Zebras.  They will travel to Whitney for a contest against the Wildcats on Friday.
