The Teague Lions built a halftime lead and cruised to a 34-3 win on the road Friday in Ferris. The Lions improve their season record to 2-1 on the young season.
Ny’Land Coaster had a touchdown run in the first quarter and Ferris added a field goal.
Senior quarterback Zak Leija set the tone for the second quarter with a perfect strike to Jy’Bryan Harris for a 37-yard touchdown pass to extend the lead to 15-3.
The Teague defense forced three turnovers on the night and held Ferris to under 200 yards of total offense. The Lions continued to get off the field by stopping third down opportunities for Ferris.
Harris added a 55-yard touchdown run up the middle and the Lions defense added a late score. Tripp Egbert punched the ball loose and Bryce Bates scooped it up and raced for the touchdown.
Corey Silar added another touchdown for the Lions and finished off the 34-3 win.
Teague returns home to take on the Mexia Blackcats as the teams get ready for district play in a few weeks.
