Funeral services for Linda Self will be held on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Corinth Baptist Church in Dew. Bro. Carl Clark will officiate. Interment will follow the services at Dew Cemetery.
Visitation will be held prior to the service on Wednesday at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
Mrs. Self passed away on Saturday, April 10, 2021, at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Waco.
She was born in Nacogdoches on February 7, 1945, to O.D. and Marie Johnson. Linda grew up in Nacogdoches and went to college at Baylor where she received her Bachelor’s Degree and then earned a Master’s Degree from the University of North Texas. She was a teacher and taught science in several schools in and around Nacogdoches but most of her teaching years were at Lake Dallas. She married Jimmy on August 2, 1986, and shared over thirty-five years of marriage together. Linda enjoyed photography, and artwork, especially creating paintings. Mrs. Self was a member of Corinth Baptist Church in Dew.
She is survived by her husband, Jimmy Self of Teague; two step-sons, Jeffrey Self & wife Carla, and Bobby Self & wife Amy all of Aubrey; four grandchildren, Jaeger Self, Jaycie Self, Luke Self, and Grady Self.
Mrs. Self was preceded in death by her son, Pace Petty and one sister, Gayla Mize.
