Lena Newman, 85, of Fairfield, died Tuesday, April 30, 2019 in Fairfield.
Funeral services were held 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 3, 2019 at Round Prairie Baptist Church with Bro. Ed Ridge officiating. Interment followed at Antioch Cemetery near Luna.
Pallbearers were Laney Newman, Cadon Trull, Matthew Brooke, Scott Isaacs, Jim Probe, Johnny Green, Johnny Cockerell and Kyle Hayes.
Mrs. Newman was born March 10, 1934 in Teague to parents Jack and Ella Beasley Knight.
She married Conley Newman on July 15, 1952; and he preceded her in death on February 13, 2015.
Mrs. Newman was a retired, self-employed hairdresser.
She was a long-time member of Round Prairie Baptist Church where she was very active. She was also a long-time member of the VFW Post 5872 Ladies Auxiliary of Fairfield.
Mrs. Newman was known to many as Nenee or Aunt Lena.
Her hobbies were loving her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and earlier in her life her cows, chickens and roosters.
Nenee loved Jesus and read the Bible many times and shared Bible stories with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband she was also preceded in death by one sister and five brothers.
Left to cherish her memory are two sons, Zack Newman and wife Cindy of Fairfield; Roy Newman and wife Lisa of Fairfield; five grandchildren, Leslie Newman of Corsicana; Amanda Newman of Fairfield; Shonda Isaacs and husband Scott of Fairfield; Cheyenne Brooke and husband Matthew of Teague; Laney Newman of Fairfield; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Modene Thornton of Longview, Texas.
