The Teague Lions fell in the bi-district round of the basketball playoffs in a loss to the Academy Lady Bees 45-30 at Waco High School.
Ellie Erwin and Desi Bolin scored to take an early 5-0 lead and never trailed in the contest over the Lady Lions. Meeyah Davis scored from inside and Calee Payne hit a three pointer to close the gap in the first period and trailed 10-6 at the end of the first.
Bolin scored from the field and Payten Conde hit all four of her free throw attempts to keep the lead despite some tenacious defense by Teague in a huge try to get into the lead. Shots continued to fall short for Teague but Ashlynn Forge hit a pair of free throws to keep Teague close and the Lady Lions trailed 19-13 at the half.
A trio of shots from behind the arch gave the Lady Bees the room they needed to win the game. Aubrey Fossett had a couple of them and Kersten Turner added the other and the Lady Bees scored a 15-7 advantage and opened the lead to 34-20. The teams traded baskets in the final period and Academy advanced with the 45-30 win.
Reagan Heggins led to Lady Lions scoring with ten points.
