The Fairfield Lady Eagles jumped out to a 29-1 lead midway through the second period and coasted to a 66-11 win in Groesbeck on Wednesday night.

The game was moved back a day to accommodate inclement weather, and the Lady Eagles did not allow the day off to dampen their skills. Delaney McGowan scored five quick points, and Kaylee Williams had a steal and score. Keke Alexander hit a three pointer, and the Lady Eagles pitched a 22-0 shutout in the first period.

Groesbeck put their first points on the board when Thomas hit one of two free throws with three minutes remaining in the first half to put the score at 29-1. Williams scored seven in the period and Kole Brackens put back a missed shot and Fairfield extended the lead to 35-7 at the halftime break.

The Fairfield defense held Groesbeck to one field goal in the second half and four total points as the teams substituted frequently and the Lady Eagles completed a 66-11 win and remain unbeaten in the district race.

Williams scored 20 to lead all scorers and the Fairfield Lady Eagles travel to Mexia to take on the second place Ladycats.
