Avery Thaler has been a decorated athlete at Fairfield High School. She continues to get recognized as she prepares for her college volleyball career. But first, it is Austin and the State Track Meet.
Fairfield finished second in the team competition with 58 total points, 40 of them coming from relay races, and Thaler was on all three qualifying relays into the regional.
Thaler jumped 18-6.25 on her first jump in the competition and was placed second. She did not have a better jump for the remaining five jumps and Yierra Flemmings of Cameron had her best jump of 19-2.25 on her second jump and that held up for a first place finish. Thaler finished second and qualified for the state final. Brooke Munoz of New Waverly was the third place finisher.
She also finished second behind Flemings in the Triple Jump and both ladies will move onto the state track meet.

The team of Madox Mitcheal, Blayke Brackens, Avery Thaler and NaKayla Connor narrowly finished ahead of Lorena with a fast time of 1:44.20. McGregor finished third in the event.
The Fairfield mile relay made the finals for the Saturday session and proved to be one of the premier relay teams in the region with a first place finish in the event. They were a step ahead of West and had some separation between third place finisher East Bernard.
The Mexia boys will be heading to the state track meet with a third place finish in the 4×200-meter relay. The team of Jacques Cooper, Brice Moore, Keison Huckaby and Draylon Lee finished behind Franklin and Hitchcock.
The Fairfield girls sprint relay had the fastest qualifying time in the preliminaries, but they would not finish in the top three in the finals.
