The Fairfield Lady took a double-digit lead into the half and cruised to a district victory at the Johnson Activity Center and clinched a playoff spot and very close to the outright district title.

Kaylee Williams scored seven points in the first period, including a three pointer and built an early lead. Simone Garrett saw some early moments in the game and added four points. Blayke Brackens and the Lady Eagle defense kept the defensive pressure to a maximum and led 21-9.

The teams played practically even through the second period with Wells and Marler scoring for the Lady Goats. They continued the defensive pressure with numerous substitutions and Jacelynn Schmidt paced Fairfield with four points in the period. Forge added a score in the period and the Lady Eagles held a modest 31-17 lead.

The Fairfield Lady Eagles came out of the locker room, and they scored early and often and broke the game and the lead gap wide open.

Blayke and Kole Brackens along with Garrett scored four points each and Williams added five more and Schmidt led the team with six points.

Brooks hit a three pointer in the period for the only Groesbeck points in the period and Fairfield led 57-20 heading into the fourth period.

Kole Brackens led the Lady Eagle attack in the fourth period with six points in the period and ten of her 12 points all in the second half.

Fairfield kept the Lady Goats to single digits and finished off a 70-25 win.

Schmidt, Kole Brackens, and Williams each had 12 points to lead the Lady Eagles. Blayke Brackens scored ten along with Simone Garrett in the win.

The Lady Eagles continue to lead the district and have clinched a Division I playoff spot, with Buffalo clinching the runner up slot. Palestine Westwood and Teague are the likely schools to take the final playoff spots. Fairfield had the idle spot on Friday and will remain at home to take on the Mexia Ladycats.
