The Fairfield Lady Eagles dominated the week with a win at Teague and a home victory over Buffalo to maintain a stronghold on District 20-3A.

The Lady Eagles traveled to in-county rival Teague for an important contest against Teague. The Lady Lions had two losses in the first set of round robin games and were in third place behind Fairfield and Mexia.

The first four minutes was a tight game with Bethanna Owens and Jayci Phillips scoring with a short jumper and free throws. Blayke Brackens scored for the Lady Eagles and Delaney McGowan hit two free throws to match the scoring.

Late in the first period, Kaylee Williams and Jimilyah Nash hit three-pointers to build a lead. Fairfield finished the period on a 12-0 run to take a 16-4 lead at the end of the frame.

Fairfield turned up the defensive pressure and scored 17 of the 21 points before the half. Jaci Abram and Jacelynn Schmidt had quick scores, and Blayke Brackens went on a personal 5-0 run to extend the lead. Phillips tallied the only two scores of the period and the Lady Eagles held a 33-8 halftime lead.

The Lady Eagles hit five straight shots in the early moments of the second half. Brackens scored four times off of steals and led the fast break with an assist to Nash who finished with a score. Owens scored four in the period for the Lady Lions and A’Shaiya Jones scored in the first minute. Brackens scored ten in the period and the Lady Eagles added to lead after three at 52-17.

The teams played even in the final period with Nash and Samone Garrett leading the scoring in the 63-28 win. Blayke Brackens scored 19 points and had nine steals and Nash added 16 points in the win.

Fairfield returned to the Johnson Activity Center on Friday to take on the Buffalo Lady Bison. Nash began the scoring with a rebound, but Victoria Brooks hit two from long distance to keep the game close in the first few minutes. Delaney McGowan matched that with a pair of three pointers and the Lady Eagles hit their last four shots of the period and ended in a 12-0 run to lead 20-8.

Kaylee Williams hit a three to open the scoring in the second period and Brackens scored 11 in the second to blow the game open. Fairfield ended the half on a 27-2 run led by short jumpers from Brackens, Nash and Abrams. Fairfield held a 55-10 lead at the half.

The reserves came in and played the remainder of the contest to close out a 58-15 win.
