The Fairfield Lady Eagles continued their dominance of District 20-3A opponents with a pair of convincing wins and they maintain their stronghold as one of the top teams in the entire state.
Fairfield took to the road to take on the Groesbeck Lady Goats. The Lady Eagles jumped out to a 24-0 lead at the start with a pair of three pointers from Jarahle Daniels sandwiching a three pointer by Emori Davis. Jimilyah Nash hit a three pointer midway through the first quarter to continue the shutout. Kole Tatum hit a long three pointer to put the first points on the board for Groesbeck and the Lady Eagles led 26-3 at the end of the first period.
McKinna Brackens continued her solid passing and added to her assist total but she scored twice in the early moments of the second period. Davis added a short jumper and Breyunna Dowell finished some missed shots with offensive rebounds. The starters gave way to some reserves near the end of the period and the lead continued to swell. Jalynn Calloway hit a three pointer and Nash scored to finish off a 44-10 first half.
Shadasia Brackens reminded everyone that she can score and passed down to Dowell for a score and hit a three pointer. This would end a 17-3 period and the Lady Eagles had a big lead throughout the second half. Addie Cox and Avery Thaler paced the Lady Eagle offense and their 78-17 win.
Fairfield returned home take on the winless Lady Bison of Buffalo and the rout came early for the Lady Eagles with a 43-0 first half lead. Dowell scored 16 her game high 27 points in the first half.
The Lady Eagles finished the second half on a 28-4 run and won the game 71-4. Three other players scored double figures with Thaler adding 13, McKinna Brackens with 12, and Shadasia Brackens with ten.
