Wortham finished up the first round of district undefeated by beating Mart in four sets: Mart 25-10; Wortham 25-17; Wortham 25-17; Wortham 25-15.

Wortham and Mart were coming into the last district game of round one undefeated until they faced off this morning in Mart.  Mart came out alive and took the lead the first set and Wortham just couldn’t recover from their slow start.  Wortham lost to the undefeated Mart Panthers 25 to 10.  The Lady Bulldogs came out strong the second set and battled their way to take the second set 25-17.  Wortham continued to dominant the third and fourth sets and beat Mart.  Wortham took the undefeated lead in district with a district record of 8-0.

The Lady Bulldogs were lead by their impressive defense against Mart.  Megan Whaley dug everything that came her way no matter how powerful.  Libero Hallie Fautt continued to battle to prove her title as Libero of the Year.

Megan Whaley’s serve receive was almost perfect and she had 19 digs.  Hallie Fautt had 31 digs.  Together the two defense specialist proved that defense is the key to a stronger offense.

Ashley Mao lead the offense with 14 kills, 1 block and 18 digs.

Rylee Goolsby shut the Lady Panthers offense down with 8 blocks, 11 kills and three digs.

Skylar Phillips had 5 kills, 4 assists, 6 digs and 2 blocks.

Setter Jayde Hamilton continued to lead the team in sets with 29 assists, 4 kills, 16 digs and three blocks.

Setter Reagan Stuver had 16 assists and 3 digs.

Samantha Wright and Jessica Black strengthened our offense.  Wright had 3 kills, 4 digs and one block.  Jessica Black had 2 kills, 3 digs and one block.

Brynn Bowden contributed to the defense with 2 digs.

The Lady Bulldogs had a solid defense against a powerful offense today and proved to everyone that they are the team to beat in district.  The Lady Bulldogs want to make this year the fifth consecutive year as district champions.
