Friday, July 27th, will be the anniversary of the Armistice that marked the end of fighting in Korea.

That conflict has become known as the “Forgotten War.” But the veterans of that war have not been forgotten by the Palestine chapters of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 991 (the VVA) and the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 63 (the DAV).

We are honoring veterans of that conflict with a luncheon on the 27th, the 65th anniversary of the Armistice.

This year, VVA Chapter 991 has the privilege of hosting the luncheon. All Korean War veterans from the East Texas area around Palestine are invited to attend with your spouses and family members.

In addition to lunch, we will have a ceremony to honor your service to our country.

Lunch will be served at noon at the VVA/DAV Hall at 927 Gardner Drive in Palestine. The Hall is located in Palestine on Gardner Drive behind the Mattern Tire Company on Texas Highway 155 North.

A response with your name and the number of those persons that will be attending will help us in planning for the meals. Please call our coordinator, Ms. Hattie Kitchens, at 903-724-9596 for information and directions.

It is our honor to serve you and “THANK YOU” for your service.
