Funeral services for Kayla Reid, 23, will be held on Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague. Bro. Jimmy Cotton will officiate. Interment will follow the services at Woodland Cemetery near Kirvin.
Visitation will be held on Monday with the family present from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Kayla passed away on Friday, August 13, 2021, at Texas Health Fort Worth Medical Center.
She was born in Palestine on October 9, 1997. Kayla lived in Teague almost all of her life. She participated in numerous Ranch Rodeo beginning at age four and ran barrels on and off for the rest of her life and later competed in break-away roping. Kayla graduated from Teague High School with the class of 2016 and attended San Angelo State University before transferring to Stephen F. Austin University where she recently completed her Bachelor’s Degree. In high school, Kayla was a member of the Teague Lion Band and excelled at playing percussion. She was a member of the S.F.A. Rodeo team and loved to compete. Kayla enjoyed hiking, traveling, and loved animals. She had recently moved to Stephenville and was working in Arlington. Kayla attended the Cowboy Heritage Church of Freestone County.
She is survived by her parents, Kenneth & Debbie Reid of Teague; one sister, Bobbie Jo Morgan & husband Paul of Lufkin; one niece, Bella Morgan; one nephew, Coy Morgan; her maternal grandmother, Sylvia Wilson of Fairfield; her aunt, Kathie Finley & husband Richard of Teague; her uncles, Wayne Wilson of Fairfield and Jim Reid & wife Leslie of Montgomery; numerous cousins including a special cousin, Brooklynn Wilson.
Kayla was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Jim & Naomi Reid; her maternal grandfather, Robert Wilson; two uncles, Troy Wilson and Danny Wilson; and her cousin, Jason Turner.
