July was somewhat dry with only one day with measureable rainfall for the entire month. We had 0.59 inch of rain on July 20. Our normal rainfall for July is 1.95 inches.

Our total rainfall for the year stands at 39.61 inches. We are only 4.20 inches short of having normal rainfall for the entire year. However, we are experiencing drought conditions with having so little rain over our normally hottest month of the year.

July temperatures ranged from lows in the low to mid-seventies to highs in the upper eighties to mid-upper nineties which is near normal for July. We did not have any triple-digit temperatures as compared to several triple-digit days last year in July.

Looking ahead to August: August is normally our second hottest month of the year. However, we have our hottest day of the year in August more than in July due to the mid-point of summer falling in August. On an average, temperatures peak around mid-summer (August 6) but we do occasionally have some unusually hot days after mid-summer.

August is also our second driest month of the year. Our normal rainfall for August is 2.43 inches. August holds the record as our driest month over the past 25 years with no measureable rainfall for the month in 2011.
