Another exciting month at the Fairfield Library saw many children at the weekly Story Time. We are currently mid-way through the Summer Reading Program, “Libraries Rock,” and look forward to July’s guest readers and fun times.
In July the guests will be: Judge Linda Grant (Thursday, July 5th because of the July 4th celebrations county-wide); Sheriff Jeremy Shipley on Wednesday, July 11; Fairfield State Park Rangers on Wednesday, July 18; and final guest Leon Thomas on Wednesday July 25.
Good news for genealogy aficionados in the county is that Tammy Gawryszewski, Library Board Vice President, has secured a grant for the library which will jointly benefit the Fairfield Library as a research tool as well as the Freestone County History Museum.
The project involves digitizing historical copies of the Fairfield Recorder and the Teague Chronicle newspapers. When completed, the digitized images of the two newspapers will be available online at The Portal to Texas History.
Also scheduled in July are:
–Tech Time – Email Basics at 5:30 on Tuesday, July 10th in the computer area. Please call the library (903 389-3574) and reserve your place for the continuation of how to use email.
–Family Game Night – 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, July 20th throughout the library.
Dewey Knits on the first and third Tuesdays (July 3 and 17), 10 a.m. to Noon in the Community Room.
