Johnnie Casey Walker was born on March 22, 1931, in Point Enterprise. She went home to be with the Lord and her first love, Walter Walker, Jr., on July 2, 2024. Johnnie was a housewife and mother of three girls, and after the death of her husband in 1963, she had to get a job, learn to drive and buy a car, while grieving and raising her three girls. She lived a long, but not always easy life and was one of the strongest women we’ve ever known. Johnnie had a “heart of gold” and would help anyone in need and often did many times. She was very close to her girls and all of her grand and great-grandchildren. She was affectionately known as “Granny”, “Nonnie”, “Earl”, “Little Granny”, “Mother”, and “Mama”. A day wasn’t complete unless all three girls spoke to her at least once; but it was always more than just once.

She is survived by three daughters, Celinda Powell and Mary Walker both of Teague, and Paula Crundwell & Ricardo Gonzales of Rosenberg; eight grandchildren, Don Harris & Wayna, Sheri Harris, Julie Walker, David G. Crundwell & Janice, Deana Erwin, Lajuana Edgar, Julie Powell, and Regina Harris; ten great-grandchildren, Josh Harris, Matthew Harris, Tylie Bruce, Niya Bruce, Tyrone Bruce, Freya Crundwell, Liam Aguilar, Tyler Aguilar, Reese Aguilar, and Sara Johnson; many more great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, & friends including special nieces, Patty Morton, Debbie Simons, Deana Paddock, Kathy Orsak, Mitzi Walker, and Linda Calhoun; special nephews, Casey Morton, Clayton Jones, Keith Walker, and Carl Dean Shields; special friends, Debbie Cockerham and Janie Beldin; and a very special “fur baby”, Tyson, who never left her side.

Johnnie was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Walker, Jr.; her parents, Walter & Willie Casey; one brother, Edward Howard (E. H.) Casey; two sisters, Martha Sue Jones and Sally Ruth Morton; son-in-law, Larry Powell; and one granddaughter, Jutina Powell.

They both left this life in July, sixty-one years apart. Mama was the last of her generation on both sides of the family (Casey and Walker).

The family wishes to give a special “Thank you” to Reliant Hospice, Ashley, Kenlee, Christy & Pam, for their wonderful care for Mrs. Walker.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation at www.alzfdn.org.
