Jimmy Wayne McKee, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on January 20, 2025, in Mexia, Texas.
He was born on July 8, 1942, in Dallas, Texas, to Emmett Alonzo McKee and Eugenia V. Richardson.
Jim loved God, family, and friends with all his heart. An avid outdoorsman, he found joy in hunting, fishing, sitting around campfires, and watching sunsets.
Jim cherished the simple pleasures in life, from savoring barbecue to sharing stories with friends. His truck was always equipped with a pair of binoculars and a rod and reel, ready for any spontaneous adventure or a promising fishing spot.
Jim’s passion for camaraderie led him to start the “Good Ol’ Boys Club,” an annual gathering that became a cherished tradition and a testament to his love of friendship and connection.
Professionally, Jim dedicated his career to the lime industry, where he worked as a salesman for Round Rock Lime Company, a sales manager for Dravo, a regional salesman for Boral Industries, and a representative for Soil Stabilization. His strong work ethic and personable nature earned him respect and admiration from colleagues and clients alike.
Jim is survived by his devoted wife of 49 years, Kathleen Davis McKee; his children, Ty McKee and wife Lisa of Fresno, CA, Jamie McKee Hillerman, Toni Campbell and husband Eric of Clovis, CA, and Clay McKee of Houston; 9 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; his sister, Belinda McKee Carter and husband Kenneth; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Emmett and Eugenia McKee; his brothers, Richard McKee and wife Sue, and Lester McKee and wife Nancy; his son-in-law, Chris Hillerman; and many cherished aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, including members of “The Good Ol’ Boys Club.”
Jim’s legacy of love, laughter, and a zest for life will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed.
Funeral Service was held Friday, January 24, 2025, at Fairfield United Methodist Church. Burial followed at Wortham Cemetery. Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home served the family.
