Graveside services for James (Bodie) Posey, Sr., 87, were held on Tuesday, January 8, 2019, at 3:00 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery.
Bro. Scott Matthews and Bro. Darrel Beggs officiated and military honors were given by the U.S. Marine Corps.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, prior to the service, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague.
Mr. Posey passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2019, at the Teague Nursing Home.
He was born in Teague on January 28, 1931, and lived almost all of his life in Teague.
He graduated from Teague High School with the class of 1948. In high school he excelled in sports, especially football and basketball. Mr. Posey earned a scholarship to play basketball at Navarro College and also was a “walk on” on the Navarro football team. He left college and returned to Teague to work for the railroad, but soon after enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. Mr. Posey served for four years including a year in Korea with the Marines and received his honorable discharge at Camp Pendleton, CA, on March 15, 1954.
He married Audrey on May 1, 1954, and shared over sixty-four years of marriage together.
Mr. Posey returned to his career with the railroad and retired from BNSF railroad after forty-three years.
He enjoyed raising horses and gardening and was a seventy-seven year member of First Baptist Church in Teague, having been saved at the age of ten during a revival.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey Posey of Teague; two sons, Bodie Posey, Jr. & wife Lisa of Waco, and Randy Posey & wife Berni of Teague; four grandchildren, Audrey Trulock & husband Matt, Corey Posey & wife Jessica, Wynn Posey & wife Courtney, and Zach Posey; five great-grandchildren, Savanna Trulock, Lucy Trulock, Shelby Trulock, Scarlett Posey, and Bryer Posey; one sister-in-law, Jean Posey of Teague; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Mr. Posey was preceded in death by his parents, W. K., Sr. & Jewell Posey; two brothers, Kimsey Posey, and Kenneth Wayne Posey; and one great-granddaughter, Sophia Trulock.
