Jack Edward (Mr. Jack) Badertscher, 85, of Fairfield, passed away Thursday, March 8, 2018 in Fairfield.
Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 17, 2018 at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Corsicana with Reverend Canon Edward R. Monk, SSC officiating.
Interment in St. John’s Columbarium will follow.
Jack was born August 8, 1932 in Fresno, California to parents Ted and Amelia Hansen Badertscher. He served in both the California National Guard and the U.S. Army.
In addition to his military service Jack worked as a fire fighter with the Forestry Service in Northern California.
Jack came to Fairfield about 25 years ago, from Dallas, following retirement as a machinist with Mrs. Baird’s Bakery. Residents of Fairfield and Freestone County were familiar with Jack as he was a longtime fixture at Brookshire Bros.
Jack was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Corsicana and Fairfield Lodge #103 A.F. & A.M.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Kathleen on May 18, 2012 and a brother, James (Jim) Badertscher.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Allen Gene Riddle of Granbury, TX; Margaret Rey and husband Bob of Granbury; Thomas Wesley Riddle and wife Danette of Kemp, TX; Laura Gutowski of Fairfield; Gary D. Riddle and wife Karen of Retreat, TX; three sisters, Dorothy Neely and husband Tom of San Juan Capistrano, CA; Audrey Prine of Kingsburg, CA; Shirley Kirkpatrick and husband John of Exeter, CA; a sister-in-law, Pat Badertscher of Fresno, CA; 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
