Lemonade Day Sign-Ups Now Open
Taking risks, giving back to community, and good customer service right were some of the things that young entrepreneurs heard from local business leaders on Friday, March 1, 2019.
“Entrepreneurs are very brave,” said Ashley DeVillier, Administrative Assistant at Fairfield Chamber of Commerce.
The Chamber’s Executive Director, Brenda Pate, talked of the importance of spending, saving, and giving back to the community.
“To open a business, you need money,” reminded Jason Hullum, Branch Manager of Community National Bank & Trust.
He explained how loans can help small businesses make more money, hire more people, and ultimately allow the community to grow. “Banks are a big part of that,” said Hullum.
“I went to see Mr. Hullum when I wanted to buy a business,” said Mary Small, owner of Accessories, Ect.
After explaining how she got a loan to buy her gift shop, Small talked of the importance of taking care of your customers.
“What do they want?”
“How much do they want to spend?”
These are some of the many things these students will learn as they participate in this year’s Lemonade Day.
Lemonade Day is a free, fun, experiential learning program that teaches youth how to start, own and operate their own business – a lemonade stand. They keep all the money they make and are encouraged to spend some, save some and share some.
Teacher and small business owner, Gina Martin, leads the program in Fairfield.
All Fairfield students from third grade and up are invited to join.
The first seventy-five students to sign up will receive backpacks and workbooks. Sign up online at LemonadeDay.org/Fairfield
Lemonade Day will officially be held on Saturday, May 4th in Fairfield. Make plans to come out to buy glasses of lemonade and get to know the young entrepreneurs in your community.
