Weather permitting, beginning at 7:00 AM Monday, July 15, 2024, the IH 45 North and Southbound Rest Areas will be closed. This closure is expected to last through July 2024 and reopen at the beginning of August 2024. The closure is needed to safely remove and replace the existing roadway. To alert drivers of the change, changeable message signs will be placed in advance of the area where this change will occur.
The temporary traffic pattern is part of the $5 Million reconstruction of IH-45 North and Southbound Rest Areas in both Freestone and Leon County that involves removing and replacing the existing pavement structure. The project is scheduled to be completed in the third quarter of 2027.
