Hulen Lee Howell of Streetman, Texas passed away at his home on Friday afternoon, June 23, 2023. He was born September 27, 1934, in Streetman, TX to Ralph and Bernice Howell. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Streetman. Hulen enjoyed reading all types of books and telling stories about the early days in Streetman.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Dorothy Howell; parents, Ralph and Bernice Howell; and sister, Carolyn Howell Grubbs.
He is survived by his children, Carlton Howell, Charles Sikes and wife Tonia, Thomas Sikes, and Doris Van Dyke; grandchildren, Christina and Shane Wright, Charles “Bubba” Sikes, Jr., Spring and Bobby Powell, Josh Sikes, Bradley Van Dyke, and Jason Van Dyke; 12 great grandchildren; 6 great, great grandchildren; nephews John David Grubbs and Bill Grubbs; and a special cousin, Jerry Webb.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 pm on Sunday, July 2 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home in Corsicana. Services will be at 10:00 am on Monday, July 3 at First Baptist Church of Streetman with Bro. Ed Ridge officiating. Burial will follow at Birdston Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Shane Wright, Bobby Powell, Jason Van Dyke, Bradley Van Dyke, Josh Sikes and Charles “Bubba” Sikes, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be John David Grubbs, Bill Grubs, and John “Cowboy” Macke.
