Allie Hughes shot an 85 in the first round of the Region III golf tournament in Brenham and followed that up with a 77 on the second day of competition and earned her way to the medal stand.
Hughes finished third overall in the tournament and advances to the Texas State Class 3A Golf tournament on May 6 and 7 at Shadow Glen Golf Club in Austin. Her three consecutive district titles have pushed her to the right to tee off and grab a state title in the coming weeks.
The Fairfield Girls completed the team portion of the tournament and came in fifth place overall. The team includes Allie Hughes, Zada Pjetrovic, Addison Shipley, Hadassah Owen, and Cariss Capps.
The Fairfield Boys team finished 12th overall in the regional tournament (Cade Nelson, Chandler Phillips, Dio Azuara, Jake White, Brayden Thornburg).
