A destructive fire destroyed a residence located off Post Oak Rd (FM 1580) last Wednesday, December 18, 2019 in the evening hours.

The home’s location is next to Fairfield Junior High, and many had thought the flames came from the school itself.

Fairfield VFD called for backup with Teague VFD and Dew VFD responding to the scene.

The home was fully involved in fire, and command declared it to a defensive fire, meaning a fire that is unsafe for firefighters to enter.

Once the fire was extinguished, the combined fire departments did an extensive overhaul, when they check for additional fire by opening walls, ceilings, etc.

Texas State Fire Marshals are conducting a origin and cause investigation.

Fairfield Fire Chief Chandler Baggerly says that it was, “Great effort by Teague and Dew Fire Departments and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Texas State Fire Marshal’s office.”
