April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month.

Thousands of Texans will wear blue, the official color of prevention, to show their support for children.

GO BLUE! Day is Friday, April 6, 2018.

Freestone County’s Child Protective Services (CPS) will host a Hotdog Lunch Fundraiser this Friday on the Courthouse Square from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Plates are $5, or donation of your choice.  They include hot dog, chips and water.

Proceeds benefit CPS.

For pre-orders, or delivery to your business, call Karen at 903-644-6449 or Stephanie at 903-644-8946.

Prior to the fundraiser lunch, members of the CPS board will witness the signing of a proclamation by Freestone County Judge Linda Grant and will release blue balloons to bring awareness to child abuse prevention.

This month and throughout the year, members of Freestone County CPS encourages all individuals and organizations to play a role in making Freestone County a better place for children and families.

By ensuring that parents have the knowledge, skills, and resources they need to care for their children, we can help prevent child abuse and neglect by making meaningful connections with children, youth and families in our communities.

Research shows that protective factors are present in healthy families. Promoting these factors is among the most effective ways to reduce the risk of child abuse and neglect. They are:

–Nurturing and attachment

–Knowledge of parenting and of child and youth development

–Parental resilience

–Social connections

–Concrete supports for parents

–Social and emotional competence of children

Join us for GO BLUE! Day on April 6th.
