In honor of fair week, let’s talk about the benefits of peach! Peaches are not only super tasty but an excellent source of nutrition.
Luckily we come from an area where many peaches are grown. It is always good to eat local ingredients and to have the knowledge of what you are eating.
Peaches are super rich in vitamins, antioxidants, fiber, and potassium. It helps improve eye vision and helps you maintain body weight.
Peaches lower inflammation. They also prevent many ailments such as; cancer, heart disease, bone disorders, and more.
Peaches help with kidney function and promote radiant skin.
Peaches control cholesterol and protect you from anemia.
Freestone peach is a type of peach that harvests in Texas mid June. Most people like the Freestone variety better than the other because it ripens faster and is easier to cut.
You can make so many awesome things with peaches. You can make jam, jelly, marmalade, pies, cobbler, or you can just eat it plain.
My favorite is adding it to oatmeal, putting with nut butter on a sandwich, or making a smoothie.
In honor of freestone county fair week we will have a “Freeco Smoothie” which is all peach with a touch of cacao for $5 all week long.
