The Moody-Bradley House was built in 1860 by W.L. Moody for his bride Pherabe Elizabeth Bradley. The couple moved to Galveston after the war, with their son, W.L. Moody, Jr., selling the property to his father-in-law, F.M. Bradley.
The house is a Greek Revival Structure which was kept in the family until Mr. Bradley’s third wife, Miss Matt, as she was called, passed away in 1913.
There were other owners, the Fairfield History Club being the last. The Club bought the house from Mr. & Mrs. L.L. Coleman in 1967 and continues to restore and maintain the stately home known as the Moody-Bradley House.
We are pleased to announce the house is open for tours on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., closing from 12:00 to 1:00 for lunch. These are the hours of operation unless we are closed due to rental of the house for showers, weddings and other events.
We want to thank Freestone County, City of Fairfield, and the citizens who help us reach our goals! There will be more to come, so visit our website: www.moodybradley.com.
