The Freestone County Water Rescue Boat’s one and two were dispatched including water rescue personnel from Teague, Wortham, and Streetman to a 20 acre lake in the Butler area.
Tuesday, October 6, 2020 about 8:30 a.m. a call was received in regards to a fishing boat on the small lake with Game Wardens Shawna Poole and David McMillian responding.
Two individuals had taken a boat out for fishing, but unfortunately the boat capsized.
One fisherman was able to swim back, and one was not.
After dragging the lake and using sonar, they were able to locate the missing person although it was too late.
Justice of the Peace Pct 1 Theresa Farris made the call at 3:45 p.m.
