Three area teams went into the playoffs with high hopes of a long playoff run.  Two had their hopes dashed with first round exits and one moves on.
The Fairfield Lady Eagles had an epic battle with the China Springs Lady Cougars.  The five-set marathon displayed the talents of two evenly matched teams.  Fairfield claimed the first two sets 25-21 and 25-23.  The Lady Eagles reached match point in a close third game but the Lady Cougars won the game 26-24.  Fairfield dropped a close game four 25-23 and the game five sent China Spring to the area round 15-6.
Teague had a similar match against the Grandview Lady Zebras at Blooming Grove High School but came away short in the five-set match.  Teague and Grandview split the first two games and then Teague took a dominating 25-9 win in game three.  The Lady Lions could not turn Grandview away and dropped game four 25-21.  The intense game five came down to the wire and Grandview advanced with a 16-14 clinching win.
