There will be three $500.00 scholarships awarded this year to Freestone County graduating high school seniors from Fairfield High School, Teague High School, Wortham High School and eligible Home Schooled graduating seniors.
The scholarship applications with eligibility and participation requirements are being emailed later this week to school counselors for distribution to their eligible seniors. On February 28th and February 29th a second notice will be published in the Freestone County Times, Fairfield Recorder and the Teague Chronicle with a special reminder for home schoolers to contact Patricia Pratt at the Freestone County Historical Museum 903-389-3738 to pick up their applications.
One very important eligibility requirement is that research is to be done at the museum to document the student’s theme of any topic of Freestone County History.
The deadline for completion and return completed essays to the museum has not been determined. The deadline notification will be published via print media, emails to school counselors or the Freestone County Historical Museum FACEBOOK page.
Completed applications will be reviewed by a Freestone County Historical Commission panel to determine the winning scholars for the Freestone County Historical Commission‘s 2024 Heritage Scholarship Award.
Please remember the Freestone County Historical Museum is open Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 10:00 AM to 5:00PM.
